The technical collaboration between 11 bit studios and Intel dates back to the development of Anomaly 2, released in 2013. It’s entertainment that demands personal investment. “ This War of Mine was a game about individuals, but in Frostpunk, you play as the leader of possibly the last city on Earth with civilization on the brink of survival.” The common thread is an experience that tests players morally and emotionally, in a society pushed to the limits of its endurance. “ Frostpunk is the next big step in our philosophy of meaningful entertainment,” explained Pawel. ![]() Frostpunk* challenges players to build a thriving settlement in the frozen wastes of its steampunk planet Earth. To date, the game has sold over 1.5 million copies and has cemented 11 bit studios’ reputation as a major creative force in game development.įigure 1. Not content with shaking up just one genre, in 2018, they delivered Frostpunk*, a steam-powered survival city-builder set on a 19th-century planet Earth that has entirely frozen over. The game shattered expectations of what a war game could be and enjoyed widespread critical and commercial success. Next, they turned their attention to creating one of the most powerful and moving depictions of wartime reality ever realized in any media: 2014’s This War of Mine*. The studio’s first output was the successful Anomaly series of inverted tower defense games that debuted in 2011 and introduced the ‘tower offense’ genre. It’s a feat they’ve achieved by holding fast to their vision of creating what partnerships manager Pawel Miechowski calls “meaningful entertainment”. The Warsaw-based team has created not one but two games that can easily be considered modern classics. For a game developer that’s only been around for a decade, 11 bit studios* sure knows how to impress. 12/30/2023 0 Comments Bubble trouble 2 hacked![]() The Bob & Chez Show is a funny, fast-paced political podcast that doesn't take itself too seriously. In particular, we are concerned that the popular response may reflect factors unrelated to the actual protection of breach victims and reliance on these products after the breach may result in consumers being lulled into a false sense of security.”The Democrats have asked the GAO to take another swing at determining precisely what “post- breach solutions” would benefit victims of data theft-and not just those impacted by Equifax. Simply compensating consumers whose data has been hacked with a year of monitoring is not going to be enough.”“Questions remain about whether purchasing and providing credit monitoring for customers is the optimal way to respond to data breaches,” the lawmakers wrote. While putting people’s minds at ease is certainly a service, it’s hardly a substitute for a genuine shield against identity theft. ![]() ![]() However, the GAO later found that this decision was not based on any actual analysis of whether or not the services were truly effective, the lawmakers said. This self-hosted solution has been around for a while and may be the perfect solution for those who would rather look after their own data then someone else. OwnCloud is free to download and install. Want to ‘stick it to the man?’ Then maybe OwnCloud is the way to go. They also offer a generous 15GB for sign-ups. So a 20 GB folder synced between 4 people only counts as 5 GB per person.” “Copy lets you split the bill with shared folders. Each solution has their own angle, and they take the shared angle. Like Lacie, this is a hard-drive name that’s came into the cloud scene. They offer an interesting hybrid mix of a TeamDrive cloud and your own server. TeamDrive isn’t fancy or flashy, but they offered “unparalleled 256-bit end-to-end encryption.” Translation: secure. They aren’t a major player, but Lacie is solid, so you should be good to go. They have a curious pricing and feature set that’s worth a look. I’ve never played around with Wuala before, but anything put out by Lacie has got my attention. Google DriveĬan we talk about Google and privacy in the same blog post? Google Drive isn’t known for its privacy-that’s for sure-but they are known for having pushed the first domino in the cascade of cloud storage pricing. When my Dropbox subscription comes up for renewal, this may be where I am headed. SpiderOak has become an alternative to many. They are super private and secure, and while Edward Snowden warns people of Dropbox’s privacy issues, he recommends SpiderOak. Here is a list of Dropbox alternatives to consider: 1. I have not included pricing, as it is constantly changing and each service offers a little different take on cloud storage. ![]() So when the leading cloud app storage solution loses 27,000+ files that belong to your online friend and leaks hundreds of passwords a few days later, you begin to wonder what other solutions are available. So then if price per gigabyte doesn’t matter as it once did before, what is left to separate one cloud storage solution from the other? I remembered when I had 50GB for $10 a month-I now have a 1TB for the same price! That’s a huge jump and leaves many users paying for space they’ll never use or need. As the number of apps and services that sell or give space increases, the prices go lower and lower. The price of cloud files storage has been going down every six months to a year. Even if you hear multiple stories of how Dropbox saves the day, the moment you hear about them losing over 27,000 files, you doubt their service. 12/30/2023 0 Comments Ffxiv isles of umbra prohibited![]() I actually finished a whole other version of the track, which was abandoned during development, so the version that everyone hears in the game is actually “Fires of Resistance 2.0” ( laughs). It was definitely a competitor for the track that took the most toil and effort for me to complete out of the whole game. When I started work on “Fires of Resistance”, I wanted to make it a track that reflected the emotions of Cloud and his comrades at this point in the story but doing that was actually quite tricky to pull off. In Chapter 15 there is a feeling of despair after the great catastrophe that has just occurred, with the party in a heavy, sombre mood. How was this composed? Were the team given an outline of what's to happen during this chapter (and perhaps even shown early versions of the game running?) to decide how to create this dynamic, ever-changing, piece of music? The "Fires of Resistance" track that plays throughout this chapter is a real delight. Naoki Hamaguchi (Co-Director(Game Design / Programming)) We decided that it would make for a better result having something that could be used to traverse the dungeon throughout the chapter, rather than just as a one-off gimmick where you have to watch for the correct timing like it was in the original. In Chapter 15 the party use wire guns to climb up on the wreckage, but this idea actually came from a homage to the swinging wire in the original game. In the original FFVII, there’s the jumping to the swinging wire moment (I failed so many times!) – were you tempted to try to bring that across to the new game like you did the reactor switches, squats etc?
